I recently had an opportunity to renew my homepage during a minor change in my life. This was a good time to reconsider my activity as an artist. In the new homepage, I am using my new logo. This is the same as the stall’s sign I am using in the local market.
At a glance, this logo looks ‘手’ (hand) or ‘呼ぶ’ (call, invite) in Chinese letters. However, it is actually based on my initials. In brief, the logo looks like a Chinese letter but also it is modified alphabet letters. I liked the logo as if it reflects my life. My origin is Asian but I am now living in the western culture in a western country. I feel I belong to both but sometimes feel I don’t belong anywhere. Therefore, the logo reminds me not to forget who I am. This logo of course contains my wish that my work attracts many people and I could communicate to them. I enjoyed the process of making the logo with ink and a brush as I had not done Japanese calligraphy for long time and I used a lot of sheets of paper. Using different muscles from which I usually use for ceramics was fun and led to a small discovery that I can use for my next creation.
